Statement

I have been a painting on and off for over twenty five years.

Image making in one medium or another has been central to me for nearly all my working life.

I paint in a wide variety of styles from the figurative through to the more abstracted. My influences are informed from various sources including many early and mid  20th century painters and photographers.

With my more abstracted work I try to keep a sense of place and colour. Relationships of colour, shape and texture are paramount, and I hope give my  all my work energy, emotion and vigour…..

Oil on board is my usual method, abstracting from pencil sketches, or painting  directly, either in the open air or in my studio.

Prices for my work:  £300.00 - £1000  depending on size.

When not painting I  work as a commercial photographer specialising in  architecture, interiors and landscapes

My first book ‘Shakespeare’s Scenery’ with a foreword by Judi Dench was published in November 2008  and is on sale at local bookshops or through my website .
